The Cycle: Frontier was a looter extraction shooter game made by YAGER in 2022. The Cycle Frontier unfortunately sunset on 27th september, 2023. However, A group of devoted fans known as The Recycle Project have been working to bring the game back to life. I, Constance am one of the beta testers for their multiplayer beta test and this website will act as a means of presvering the lore of FORTUNA III. This website also contains special mentions of some of my favourite members.
In this archive, you will find comprehensive entries on the three main factions of The Cycle: Frontier - The ICA, OSIRIS, and KOROLEV. Each chapter contains the same story that all of these factions share and depicts exactly hoow much suriviving means on a planet where everything is out to get you.
“The truth is still buried. Let’s find it together.”
I would like to thank everyone in the ReCycle team for allowing me and everyone else to play this beautiful game. Thank You Echo, Alaskan, Liightning, Sol-Low, and the man behind it all, Jimny.

The Independent Civilian Advisory is a political organization present on many permanent stations and settlements across Federal space. It exists with official recognition and support by the Federal Authority to help set up civilian institutions and associations independent from any major corporations or nations. Officially, it's a non-profit organization that answers to the Federation, and to the nation it operates under if one is present, to ensure basic needs and freedoms for the population it manages without interference by corporations. Often, it's the real government and only civilian focused organization in areas where there is no official, or effective, government.
The ICA on Prospect Station organizes several companies and businesses needed to keep the station community healthy and acts as an interface between Habitat, the official station owners, and the various factions of the station, including Prospectors and interstellar corporations. The Advisory is headed by a committee made up of former colonists, station oligarchs, business representatives, and union leaders, each with their own conflicting interests, often leading to the organization having no clear goals other than the wellbeing of the station's populace and maintaining the status quo that allows for the organization to profit off its dealings with prospectors.
While the ICA competes with other major players for the resources of Fortuna III, the organization is protected and respected on the station, where it carries out its duties without too much interference. Plus, every major company has card carrying ICA members in its workforce, something that makes overt moves against them difficult to carry out, never mind unpopular among the station's populace.

Korolev Heavy Industries is the result of hundreds of corporations coalescing into a single massive entity over the course of two centuries, forming a practical monopoly in several markets. The mega-corporation operates practically everywhere humanity's managed to reach, building large scale and cheap structures along with the machines needed to build them, the myriad of tools required for life outside in frontier systems, and the ships to take them there. With heavy ties to powerful political factions on almost every major world and a market dominance only challenged by their rival Co-TEC, Korolev has found itself with more money and power than it knows what to do with.
The corporation's presence on Fortuna III was nothing noteworthy before the Cycle hit; the planet had vast quantities of Veltecite, so they had an interest in mining claims and not just simple production. Once the Cycle (storm) hit and the prospects of reaping the planet's resources dwindled, most Korolev personnel and its assets left for greener pastures, leaving behind a skeleton crew to ensure their claims would remain in place once (or if) the Cycle ever abated. The corporation's activities on Fortuna III are overseen by Vadim Tanayev, a man with nepotism to thank for his rise in the corporate ranks, and cut-through politics for his ostracism to Fortuna III after an industrial accident at a plant he oversaw tarnished his career.
Unfortunately for Korolev, the Authority charter governing Fortuna III forbids non-scientific corporate activity on the planet. Licensed prospectors, however, are allowed on the surface at their own risk, and Korolev is keen on hiring to provide a small but steady supply of Veltecite and other resources flowing to help validate the legitimacy of their presence on Prospect Station, and ultimately, Fortuna III.

A relatively young corporation, Osiris' parent company Blue Star Ltd. had a long history of buying incipient and struggling R&D and tech firms to develop and license patents to third parties. Blue Star founded Osiris from the ashes of several R&D firms, with experience in fields ranging from arms research, robotics, genetic engineering, and most notably the (now defunct) founders of the warp gates that connect the prosperous Artery systems together. As a financially and legally independent company, Osiris has been tasked to lead their research on frontier planets, with their advantage of careless legal oversight than Artery systems, of what anything that could be the next major technological breakthrough in human history. Or just be another in a series of failed investments on the edge of space that almost invariably result in massive loss of life, one of the two.
Its current head is Emmanuel Sullivan, a visionary researcher only recently recruited by Blue Star to lead the operations on Fortuna III; between the Teratomorphic Energy Field, the unique and rapidly mutating fauna and flora, and the never-ending supply of Veltecite, the planet promises a wealth of scientific discoveries beyond imagination.
While Osiris had license to operate on the surface for research purposes, they recently started hiring Prospectors to handle the bulk of their planetary matter after several unfortunate, and costly, "incidents"; from now on Osiris' (remaining) field research personnel are confined to the station.
The ICA has always been in a tough position. On the outside, it looks like they govern the prospect station, but in reality, they are constantly outclassed by the corporate giants like OSIRIS and KOROLEV. Korolev, with its insanely strong hold on energy and power, OSIRIS, with its cutting-edge technology and research, and Co-Tec, with its backing from the FEDERATION. The ICA's only strength is the loyalty of the prospectors and their powerful weaponry.
What is written below is the compilation of their most daring attempts at creating new technologies, creating a new energy source, and uncovering the dark truths of Tharis Island.
Initially, ICA depended on KOROLEV for power and energy. KOROLEV's Veltecite refiners, though marvels of chemical engineering, were extremely expensive. Quietly, ICA's engineering team launched a project to discover a new resource. They found one: NiC—Nanite-Infused Crude.
ICA sent their loyal prospectors to salvage old electronics and rare minerals to build a scanner that could detect nanite concentrations. After building the scanner, ICA tested early prototypes of oil pumps, sending prospectors to place them above NiC veins while fending off crushers and other aggressive fauna. Three days after the initial drop of the prototype pumps, the prospectors delivered canisters of NiC oil. For ICA, it was hope—the hope that they could make their own energy source, their own fuel.
“If the ICA can get enough concentrated NiC back onto Prospect Station, they’ll be able to keep everything powered on their own, free from the exploitative prices Korolev charges.”
While the Power Project kept being worked upon, A new opportunity for power came up. An EVAC ship pilot had spotted an SOS near the old Water Facility. The SOS sign was old and clearly withered away, but it was clear. It belonged to a prospector named Tao. He was one of the first to drop on FORTUNA III before the FOAM technology was invented. He vanished years ago, rumours spread that he became rich and fled the FORTUNA System.
ICA sent many prospectors to investigate the disappearance of Tao. Prospectors didn't find Tao, but they did find a loot room locked behind a puzzle inside the water facility. The loot room contained a forgotten data drive and footage from a KOROLEV security camera Tao recovered from Base Camp. The footage showed a huge, winged predator named The Howler.. OSIRIS' research about the Howler had concluded it was extinct, but Tao thought otherwise. The ICA feared Tao had been kidnapped or... eaten by this monster.
The ICA tuned Tao's Research recovery into missions for prospectors to do. Each data drive, each stash of equipment found by a prospector, painted a very clear picture. Tao was a man obsessed with FORTUNA III's Forgotten creatures. He proved the Howler was not extinct. The final and most important discovery came inside a tall house placed on 4 stilts, where Tao had left his final message and an opportunity... He had not been killed or eaten by the Howeler, but he had found something else that made him go deeper into the jungle. His research hinted at a new possibility of power, Power from meteors, he code-named the project, Project Fireball.
“This creature, the Howler, reigned the surface for years decades ago, turning once ‘safe’ areas into full on alien infestations.”
After studying Tao's notes, ICA invested 30% of NiC resources into Project Fireball. The theory was wild, Use radioactive meteor fragments from Fortuna III's moon to create a compact, high-output generator, capable of rivaling KOROLEV's Refiners. ICA quickly changed Prospector missions. They sent prospectors to gather fragments and salvage equipment from Co-Tec's Skeleton Observation Site. They broke into Power Plant's main offices and retrieved Meteor Experiment notes which were essential to the project.
The Prototypes were an absolute disaster. They produced barely any power within safe limits and threatened deadly chain reactions, one such test had cratered the moon itself. The researchers concluded and told Marie to switch all resources back to NiC. Project Fireball was a dead end but atleast it confirmed that NiC was the more promising path.
“Yields under safe conditions were underwhelming, with warnings of an uncontrollable chain reaction if pushed too hard without further research. Might explain why there’s a giant hole in the moon…”
After abandoning Project Fireball, ICA refocused on NiC. Tao mentioned several locations with potential NiC, from Pumpkin fields to Skeleton. ICA researchers found NiC everywhere, but it was only extractable after the pumpkin fields. Specialized equipment was stored in Nutrion Farms; apart from that, prospectors retrieved high-tier data drives from Starport Landing Pad that confirmed what they needed. NiC was a relic of the planet's original terraformers.
ICA's next challenge was eliminating as much crude as possible while storing the nanobots in a cannister for use on the station; for that, they created the Oil Pump. They sent prospectors on missions to collect advanced and important components to find the parts needed for the pump. They sent a prospector down with the first pump, and 8 hours later, they had a NiC cannister full of nanobots. The fuel worked. ICA now had the methods to break KOROLEV's monopoly on power and energy contingent to if they could keep it a secret.
“This stuff is actual crude oil... mixed with billions upon billions of dead nanobots. It must have been used by the Progenitors to help terraform the planet!”
NiC freed ICA from KOROLEV because of their power needs, but on the other hand, ICA's research and Island division explored on Tharis Island. They noticed A window had opened in the TEF (The Cycle/Storm) over a Korolev mining set, which was the last known location of a civilian EVAC ship that had never returned. After monitoring the sit-in in secret for weeks, they finally revealed it and sent prospectors to investigate.
What they found horrified them. The evacuees had been massacred by other humans using guns and blades. The attacks were happening for weeks, but still, OSIRIS and KOROLEV did not evacuate their personnel from the surface. They kept working in the search for something in the island's depths. mysterious caverns, a cave called the Atrium.
Prospectors delivered diaries and footage that showed a horrific sight. The attackers struck OSIRIS first, destroying the OSIRIS research center, and then they hit KOROLEV. When the EVAC arrived, it was ambushed and overrun. The survivors scattered, some making it into KOROLEV's encampment and some vanished into the caves of the Island, never to be seen. This showed the selfishness of the factions; they let their people die because they were after something valuable
That something was Tharis Iron, an alien metal only found on Tharis Island that had unexplainable and unidentifiable properties. OSIRIS used Tharis' iron to build a door using this iron, which was never breached. ICA's analytical team believes it's a form of programmable smart ore, centuries ahead of current technology, and the corporations still send prospectors to retrieve it.
“The corps held back on evacs until it was too late, despite the encroaching storms and increasing attacks from some savage ‘cultists’. They were still down there working as the rest of the planet was being abandoned.”
Even after all this, ICA never lost focus on the small things. Prospectors often asked to fulfill personal requests such as stashing sentimental things for their family, hoping they were alive somewhere on the planet's surface, avenging a fellow prospector who lost his arm, or gathering fruit to sell in the artery systems. These missions reminded ICA their true goal, to maintain the social fabric of the prospect station, no matter how fragile it may be.
They also served the ICA well. Every successful contract boosted the ICA's reputation as a reliable and trustworthy faction, which made prospectors trust them even more.
ICA also made the second most powerful sniper in existence - The Kinetic Arbiter
The ICA's search for independent power sources keeps going. The NiC Oil Pumps are just as good as ever, but they are still dangerous. Vadim Tanayev has begun asking questions, and Emmanuel Sullivan views ICA's independent research as hostile. ICA has resorted to sabotage, blowing up KOROLEV machinery, stealing research data, and even eliminating rival prospectors who get too curious.
There are still unanswered questions: The Atrium's secret, the true nature and purpose of Tharis Iron, the progenitors, and the NiC. It all leads to one conclusion... before human colonization.
“The ICA may run this station, but it’s Korolev that owns the veltecite refiners needed to generate its power. The ICA funded research for alternative power sources, before the evacuations. Head down there and get us our data back.”
OSIRIS set up operations on FORTUNA III with one goal. to study the alien ruins and technology left by an ancient civilization known as the Progenitors. The TEF (Teratomorphic Energy Field), the deadly storms, the mutated flora and fauna, in OSIRIS's view, were all connected to the terraforming technology the Progenitors had left behind. For OSIRIS, FORTUNA III isn't just a resource-rich planet. To them, it is the key to understanding another species and humanity's future
What follows are the stories and highlights of their most significant Scientific and technological breakthroughs, such as the return of the Howler, the hunt for extinct species, uncovering the mystery of Tharis Island, and the hard construction of the orbital cannon that would reveal the planet's deepest secrets
Like every faction, OSIRIS' early operations dwelled on the Bright Sands Island. OSIRIS sent prospectors to kill striders, retrieve brightcap mushrooms, and return with samples from abandoned containers. OSIRIS had a straightforward goal: to establish a fundamental understanding of the planet's ecosystem and ensure that OSIRIS could operate safely on the surface of the island.
But FORTUNA III gave OSIRIS a not-so-wanted gift. Reports of weird equipment failures led to prospectors discovering a new creature, one that OSIRIS thought to be extinct for two decades. The creature's feeding grounds were near the Water Facility, the Woodcutter Camp, and the steep cliffs of the Dig Site. The Howeler.
“If this beast was able to take down entire fireteams, you’ll have to be very well prepared to face it.”
With the return of the Howler confirmed, OSIRIS launched one of its biggest investigations. OSIRIS tasked Prospectors with killing the howeler and its storm-dwelling variants. Porpsectors were told to retrieve tissue samples that the creature was remarkably resistant to the TEF's mutational damage. This was in contrast to every other organism on FORTUNA III. The Howler showed barely any DNA damage.
This discovery shocked Dr. Sullivan to his core, but he thought that if OSIRIS could understand Howler anatomy and biology, OSIRIS might become the first faction to unlock the secret of surviving the TEF itself. OSIRIS made missions for Prospectors that paid heavily. The missions were simple yet hard: to hunt howlers with specific weapons during the storm to see how they reacted, gathering data on the beast.
“Almost every living thing on Fortuna III has been altered by the TEF… But that’s not present on these Howler samples; either the creature is immune, or it’s perfectly in tune with the TEF.”
While Howler research was going on, OSIRIS started paying attention to other ancient mysteries. Old bones found at the Archaeology Site in the east caverns on Bright Sands sparked a search and an investigation on the warden tooth in the extinct creatures lab on Crescent Falls. The lab was abandoned during the evacuations caused by the storm, but research material and data remained intact. Prospectors were assigned to retrieve the tooth and the notes of Dr. Farinha, who was the head of the lab.
Dr. Farinha was researching something far older and more complex than the Howler. He was researching a crystalline structure that he believed was somehow connected to the Progenitors. His research pointed to a location called the "Crystal Caverns," And a crashed OSIRIS freighter in the Bright Sands jungle. OSIRIS tasked the prospectors to retrieve the flight recorder. They learnt that Farinha had survived the crash and was seen heading toward the Crystal Caverns.
“There were some unique bone samples found at the Archaeology site, distinctly mutated; retrieve them for me.”
OSIRIS' medical R&D led Prospector survival efforts. Early, they developed stronger stims, sending prospectors to recover stim formulae from Vaccine Labs and chemicals from old medical stores. Later, they improved medkits with Marauder flesh, waterweed, and pale ivy blossoms. Each advance brought them closer to stims that healed nearly any injury, but the process remained extremely painful.
OSIRIS found out about KOROLEV's plan to steal their research. To counteract this, OSIRIS planted false leads and used Prospector missions to eliminate the mole. By the time the new and improved medkits were ready, OSIRIS had cemented itself as the Prospect Station's most premium consumables supplier.
“The near-immediate healing process works flawlessly, but it appears to be excruciatingly painful. Retrieve some Dustblooms for me, Prospector; their analgesic properties should be just what we need.”
OSIRIS had been wanting to step foot back on Tharis Island. A drop in TEF radiation finally made that possible. OSIRIS sent prospectors to investigate one of their old field labs. Prospectors found a massacre. Every single researcher was dead; they had been ransacked, and no equipment was found. They weren't attacked by creatures, but by humans, these humans were later identified as the "Cultists" who were a group of rogue prospectors active before the first storms. OSIRIS checked KOROLEV's records, which showed they had also been attacked, but both corporations covered it up.
OSIRIS dug deeper into the cultists and found out about their obsession with Teratomorphic crystals and Tharis Iron. The Teratomorphous crystals absorbed the TEF energy like batteries. On the other hand, Tharis Iron reacted by warping into weird and organic shapes. The patterns were similar to FORTUNA's newer flora and fauna. The cultists had built shrines about these materials and even found a way to use them.
“These ‘cultists’ weren’t merely men gone feral, they had kept some level of organization, and built a devotion to the Tharis caverns.”
OSIRIS found out that the walls of Crystal Caverns were too thick for any conventional weapon/opening tool. OSORIS solution was radical, A high-powered laser cannon that would be mounted on a repurposed low-orbit satellite above the planet. OSIRIS gave prospectors tasks to gather focus crystals, veltecite, and salvaged components while FOAM'ing off other factions' spies. After KOROLEV refused to share their drilling platform designs, OSIRIS designed and built their own from scratch.
After a series of extreme and dangerous tests, the orbital cannon was ready. A beacon was placed at the Crystal Caverns’ entrance, and the cannon fired, opening a path into the cavern with one powerful blast that came after 7 high-powered beams. Inside, prospectors fought through an Alpha Crusher and recovered whatever lay within, the first direct evidence of Progenitor technology on Crescent Falls.
“We might finally have found a path to the internals of the planet’s terraformers!”
With access to the caverns of Tharis Island open, OSIRIS recruited an unexpected ally, Dr. Fedotov, A legendary researcher who had put himself in a state of cryo instead of evacuation. Sullivan unfroze him. Fedetov immediately demanded a lab with a garden. OSIRIS provided all his wants. His expertise was invaluable to Sullivan.
Dr. Fedetov confirmed to Sullivan that the cultists had been using a mysterious progenitor machine - The Forge To refine Tharis Iron into an even more valuable and potent alloy. OSIRIS gave prospectors cultist instructions on how to forge. Prospectors put raw Tharis Iron and produced the first forged alloy. The implications were tremendous; this told OSIRIS that the Progenitors not only left behind terraforming tools but also a tool used to reshape and manufacture materials at a molecular level.
“It’s clear that the importance of these caverns can’t be overstated; Korolev stumbled upon a Progenitor terraforming artifact and they simply decided to mine around it, for rocks!”
OSIRIS' work on Tharis Island is hugely Unfinished. The forge has only revealed some part of what the Progenitors are capable of. The Teratomorphic crystals, the Howler and even the cultists, all of them remain only somewhat understood. And now, Other Factions are taking notice, KOROLEV is increasing it's manpower on Tharis Island. ICA has begun to sabotage OSIRIS equipment on all three islands.
Current Head Of OSIRIS, Dr. Emmanuel Sullivan, Is fully convinced that Progenitor technology and secrets can reshape the human race's future. But with the other factions stepping up in terms of technology and gear and the storm growing more violent every storm cycke, the race to unlock these secrets will require a heavy price.
“If we can put this Progenitor technology to work for us... well, you can imagine the implications.”
KOROLEV or KOROLEV Heavy Industries came to FORTUNA III with one purpose: exploitation and extraction. The Planet's rich deposits of Veltecite, Titan Ore, and Later Letium promised to fuel the corporation's almost monopoly across human space. When the TEF first hit, Most KOROLEV personnel evacuated, but one man, Vadim Tanayev, was left to guard the company's claims. Now, with humanity adapting to the storm, KOROLEV is back in motion, and they are willing to use any means to reclaim what they believe is theirs.
These chronicles depict KOROLEV's most ambitious ventures, whether it be developing the advanced scanner mods for Veltecite, Titan Ore, and Focus crystals, the discovery of Letium, the reclamation of Crescent Falls, uncovering the dark truths of Tharis Idland, or the construction of the MASSIVE laser drill to extract Letium. Korolev's story is both curved and straightforward.
Before entrusting prospectors with anything valuable, KOROLEV wanted to see competence and willpower. Early Tasks were simple yet hard. KOROLEV assigned simple tasks like retrieving nickel, killing striders, salvaging hydraulic pistons from industrial crates, and clearing the Water Facility of its hostile fauna. One Mission, however, hinted at something deeper. A missing prospector who had "important information" that KOROLEV didn't want falling into the wrong hands. The prospector was never found, but this proved that KOROLEV had secrets, and those secrets were worth protecting.
“We hired a prospector to check up on one of our old sites, but he never reported back. He has some... important information Korolev would prefer not fall into the wrong hands.”
KOROLEV's weapons and equipment team began work on a new mining tool, one that could turn rock into dust in mere seconds. To acquire this new tool, prospectors had to kill creatures, collect metals and bearings, and prove their proficiency with KOROLEV weaponry. KOROLEV told prospector the prototype would require stronger materials; they gave the prospectors tasks to bring back Titan Ore, electronic cables, and resin guns. The final reward was absolutely worth it. It made KOROLEV Prospector the most efficient miners on the planet and some of the richest people on the station.
“Now that you’re part of the Korolev family, it’s time to put some real work in.”
Seeing KOROLEV's new mining tool, ICA and OSIRIS stepped up, but KOROLEV was not going to give its throne up so easily. KOROLEV's Ore and Mine team developed a number of highly-sensitive scanners to give prospectors a significant edge in finding specific ores (Significant edge, 67%). The Prospectors first targeted Veltecite, the fuel that powered the prospect station, thanks to KOROLEV's huge refiners.
First came the Veltecite scanner, which was made by using Veltecite, Electronic Cables, and Circuit boards. Second came the Titan Ore scanner, which required "convincing" a paranoid engineer by sabotaging radios and eliminating a rival prospector. Finally, and last came the Focus crystal scanner, which was made using Pure focus crystals and circuit boards.
Each mod gave Korolev prospectors a near-unfair advantage in locating the most valuable resources, cementing Korolev’s dominance over the planet’s raw materials.
“We think we can modify a Scanner to zero in on Veltecite; get us these parts so we can build a prototype.”
Getting Letium consistently was a game-changer for KOROLEV. Before that point, Leium existed as a rare, volatile. quickly decaying gas that was hard and dangerous to handle. But when a civilian retrieval team brought back a miner's body covered in solidified letium at room temperature, KOROLEV realised they had stumbled onto something massive. Prospectors were sent to Hay fields to find more evidence, but came back empty-handed. KOROLEV sent them to a cave near OSIRIS wildlife preserve as a last-ditch effort, and voila! They found the helmet. The hunt was on...
After studying Letium, KOROLEV discovered that certain creatures, which were Savage Marauders and Rattlers, had absorbed and stabilized the compound. KOROLEV made hunting these creatures a priority. The ICA's sudden "security inspections" became a threat that could expose the operation. Prospectors used dead drops to deliver supplies and used uplinks to transfer research data.
“The Federal Authority is upgrading some of its arsenal, and they’ve taken interest in our PKR Maelstrom. Take one down to the planet and gather some good real-use stats for us, OK?”
When KOROLEV learnt that the radiation was finally dying down, the corporation wasted no time. Prospectors were sent to scout Hay fields and Greens prospect, which used to be the heart of old KOROLEV Operations on the second island. Prospectors retrieved nutritional bars and brittle titan ore, telling KOROLEV that the island was ready for reclamation. Vadim Tanayev saw an opportunity to restore KOROLEV's former glory.
“Korolev used to have some mining operations there, which had to be abandoned. Drop down there and see if its safe for us again!”
Tharis Island was the puzzle Vadim's predecessor, Gregor, couldn't solve. The island's weird, twisted caverns and caves caught Gregor's attention and resources, but his records were full of holes and unfinished research. Vadim sent prospectors to investigate, first clearing creatures, then looking for the chief engineer's diary. The diary revealed a litany of illness, accidents, and a forbidden area. But the site still operated; it was used to harvest something called spine briars.
As prospectors ventured deeper into the caves, they found the geologist's last location. They managed to recover Tharis Iron, an alien ore with weird and far from natural properties. KOROLEV had been mining it for years. But the real shock came when Tanayev learnt that Gregor kept sending men down to die and covered up the deaths. A medical report detailed extreme headaches and hallucinations among workers who were exposed to the iron for long amountsof time. Gregor's personal dossier, hidden, confirmed he had intentionally sacrificed his own people for the ore.
“Why would Gregor expend so many resources on these alien trinkets? Why oversee the operation himself, off the books? This alien business, it’s for other people to care about...”
To Make a monopoly on the letium, KOROLEV needed heavy machinery. Their sollution was to repurpose old Veltecite laser drills, the drills were massive floating platforms that once roamed the skies. KOROLEV asked prospectors to gather compound sheets, metallic alloys and smart mesh for a new drame. Prospectors salvaged a control unit from a crashed drill on Bright Sands.
However to KOROLEV's dismay, Building the drill attracted unwanted attention. OSIRIS suspected KOROLEV was the reason behind one of their key researcher's departure, so, prospectors were ordered to kill six rival prospectors to deflect suspicion. A defecting OSIRIS scientist demanded one last payment, A Veltecite Heart, OSIRIS Scrip, and old currency, once provided, the scientist provided the key to letium stabilization. Meanwhile, KOROLEV's engineers scrounged magnetic field stabilizers, circuit boards, CoTEC multitools and Meteor cores to power the powerful laser.
When the drill was finally ready, a prospector located a Letium vent, planted a beacon, and operated the platform. The first Letium clots were brought back. A triumph that promised to reshape Korolev’s energy dominance.
“Finally! Our first Laser Drill is fully operational, and you get to test it! Locate a Letium vent, plant a beacon, and operate the platform.”
KOROLEV's dominance on FORTUNA III is far from achieved. The letium drill got them targeted by ICA's sabotage campaign. It already hit several KOROLEV outposts, and OSIRIS is still enraged over the stolen research. Vadim Tenauev, once seen as a failed hire, now runs KOROLEV and proved his worth to the station and his doubters. But the atrocities commited by Gregor still associate themselves with the very faction he runs. The secrets about the caverns, the tharis iron and the true prupose and motives of the progenitors remains unsolved by KOROLEV. And somewhere in the station lies Lilith Danger's missing database which still holds the key and the data to tracking every prospector that ever dropped.
“HQ would have never approved the expenditure without results, so what did he know? Prospector, I need you to head to the areas they marked off as ‘forbidden’...”
A collection of tales that shaped the history of Fortuna III—heroes, villains, disasters, and legends.
In the year 2298, humanity was on the brink of extinction. Why? Overpopulation, Famine and resource wars pushed a secret corportation called the FEDERATION to create Californium-252. Californium-252 is a rare fuel that powers the Prospect Station, the largest human space object ever made. But there was a contingency, with only 70 years worth of Californium-252, they had to find a new habitable world or die. They looked at xenoarchaeologist Dr. Juliana Irvine's research paper on H-C5 planets and found FORTUNA III. Human colonists lived peacefully until the TEF or The Teratomorphic Energy Field casued mass evacuation back to the station. There they developed FOAM - Fail-safe Organic Assimilation Mechanism.
Prospect Station became humanity's last foothold in the system, a floating hub of desperation and ambition.
A prospector named Kingdoge once realized how important the leafmen were. When other prospectors looked at them as useless, he wondered why they couldn't take damage, why they weren't affected by storm. He decided to study them, realizing,if he could turn himself into one, maybe he too could become untouchable.
He asked his good friend Badum, owner of the busiest bar on the station, about a gene surgeon who could alter his DNA to get the invincibility aspect of the leafmen. But what happened was far worse, the surgery failed. Instead of becoming invincible, he became a leafman himself. He was orange, with 2 big black eyes, but he didn't mind it. He had made such an emotional connection to the leafmen that he didn't care.
“He had made such an emotional connection to the leafmen that he didn’t care.”
The Leafmen gang's second-in-command was "Five"; he remained anonymous throughout his life on the station. He arguably had the most important job in the entire gang, protecting the new recruits of the Leafmen. Five would make sure all new recruits had food, water and shelter from the brutal storms, not like the leafmen were affected by it.
Doge had met Five on FORTUNA III when he was doing early experiments on the leafmen, Five offered doge his help as he was a remarkably smart ex-OSIRIS scientist who had quit due to OSIRIS' venture into Tharis Island.
After months of being the head researcher and scientist of the gang, Doge made him head of security after multiple new recruits went missing.
"If I don't protect them, we don't last."
A FEDERATION higher-up named Lilith 'awabot' Danger wanted to know prospector performance on the planet.
Lilith installed advanced tracking chips that were injected into the prospector during the drop process and stayed in the body till FOAM.
The tracking chip was made by no other than OSIRIS who were interested in prospector performance data for the invention of they're new stim.
Using this data, Lilith created a huge database with data on each and every prospector, Lilith was arrested by the FEDERATION for violating prospector privacy but her database is yet to be found.
Lilith broke out of prison 7 months later and is yet to be found... Rumour has it she escaped to the Forge but died listening to the voices...
The Logical Intelligence Integration for Geological & Hazardous Terrain Navigation and Interstellar Node Guardian was OSIRIS' godly creation, the AI was so powerful that it filled a whole room for it's servers and required constant below freezing temperature to stay cool. L.I.I.G.H.T.N.I.N.G while having an extradinary brain was used for simple uses like analyzing materials for safety and usefulness. It decided which resources were sent to the prospect station. When the Research Center was abandoned, L.I.I.G.H.T.N.I.N.G continued running until it's cooling failed. Parts of it remain on backup drives. Broken logs suggest it may have gained a form of Rampancy, "dreaming of the storm," "the forge..."
The Basilisk is and was OSIRIS' attempt to rival the Kinetic Arbiter but it was considered a failure but one prospector known as Nick "Echo" Cross used it with terrifying skill. In his hands, the Basilisk became an arbi that could fire twice as fast. Survivors described hearing two sharp sounds and immediately foaming.
“I peaked for a fraction of a second, the next thing I hear are two terrifying sharp sounds and the sound of me foaming.”
The Crigs are a three person bounty crew, Garry, Yantz and their cocky leader, Billy. The crigs' prices are extreme but they ALWAYS deliver while making sure everyone knows how great they are. Billy's arrogance is funny whilst being legendary, he once bragged hat he could out shoot a howler with a broken pustol. When a rival crew challenged them, the crigs wiped the floor with them, losing to the crigs was embarassing, they spent an hour trash-talking the losers' aim.
